I took the beginner course that combined a 4hr Thursday evening Zoom call, followed by on-site range days on a Saturday (~9h) and Sunday(~5hr) at Gavilan college in Gilroy.
In brief, this was a fantastic class with engaged instructors and helpful office staff. Everyone seemed to want to help you succeed, while at the same time, rightly emphasizing that each person is responsible and accountable for their own safety and success. Expensive? Yes. I just took the MTC and it's worth it for beginners. The instructors were very chill & knowledgeable. Happy to answer questions and gave ample instruction. The written course is very easy to follow even if you just glanced over the handbook ahead of time. They're pretty accommodating with gear too, like they weren't a fan of my gloves I brought but provided for the course. I will say time is strict as stated so don't be late, lost one at the start of the course because they were 15 minutes behind.
