“I walked into Marin Essential Salon without an appointment, crossed my fingers and asked if anyone could color and trim my hair. I haven't done anything with my hair since before COVID so my 'natural' color was gray, blonde and lots of dark brown in the back. I asked Issam to give me all gray hair. Well, he did an amazing job and my hair looks great again. In the sun it looks blonde but if you take a closer look it is actually gray with only a few blonde streaks and it looks natural. If I get a little more adventurous I may add some silver streaks and know who I will go to for help! I appreciate you squeezing me into your busy day and making me feel like family, Issam! “Eliza and team did an absolutely amazing job for my wedding - I hired Eliza and team to do my hair and makeup along with my mother, mother in law, sister and sister and law. As someone who doesn't tend to wear a lot of makeup regularly, I was a bit nervous about not looking like myself. Eliza was extremely receptive and applied my feedback perfectly during the trial and on the day of - I looked like a better version of myself, but I still looked like myself :) Everyone was so happy with their respective looks and the photos turned out amazing.To top it off, Eliza was lovely to work with during the process - professional, easy to gab with and no fuss. “I found this stylist through a Groupon ad. I was a little wary of going to a hidden shop in Marin rather than a well-known salon in SF. I was apprehensive when I first met her, but I quickly got a sense of Sarah's expertise once she began talking about products & looking at my hair. I have dark brown hair with a few (traumatic) grays and a lot of brassy red. She turned it into a shimmering, rich, deep mahogany -no red but still warm enough to reflect light and shine brilliantly. I noted all the products she used. This is expert, quality care that parallels anything done at the top salons, but for discounted rates (I'm somewhat high-maintenance and not so easy to please, as you can tell from other reviews..) The relaxed salon in Marin was a pleasant respite after dealing with the usual stresses associated with high-end San Francisco (no parking, crowded, expense, etc..).“

Jackie Larkins was my stylist and she did an incredible job! My hair grow out so quickly, Jackie worked with me to find the right coloring for this season, we did a "root smudge" to help blend my roots a bit more as they grow out and the cut was amazing - perfect whispy layers. Not only that, the salon is gorgeous. It is nice an bright and beautifully decorated. Everyone there is so fun. Can't wait for next time!!“

“Stacey is a gem! Really enjoy my cuts and she's always very friendly yet focuses on getting the best cut done in a timely manner which I appreciate. One small thing I feel bad saying but must give the feedback is that I do not like the building she is in. It smells just awful, it's old and seedy, no view, the exhaust fumes from the restaurant downstairs are overwhelming. That's not what you want when coming for a pro cut/style. Prices are on the steep side for regular cuts. Of course Stacey has done the best anyone could do to make her salon erase those negative things, but it's just not a good ambiance getting in and out of there and it seems to be getting worse. The previous place she had was so much nicer! Modern, clean, bright, fresh. Would love it if she relocated to somewhere better and easier with parking. Great stylist though!“

“I have been going to Style Bar since they first opened and have found many great stylists over the years. I have difficult hair to blow dry and they do a great job. I usually go about 3x's a month. Everyone is very friendly and I always see other regulars there too. Michala is the new manager but she has been a stylist there for many years. I have found that the vibe, customer service and training have definitely improved since she has taken over.“
