The Forest Lawn Museum is a peaceful and beautiful place located within the Forest Lawn - Glendale cemetery. Established in 1952, it features a permanent collection of paintings, sculptures, stained glass, and other artworks, along with world-class rotating exhibits. One of the main attractions is Jan Styka's 1896 painting of the Crucifixion, the largest on the West Coast, measuring 195 feet wide and 45 feet tall. Visitors can enjoy engaging special exhibits, free educational and artistic activities, and stunning views of the valley. The museum offers free admission and ample parking, making it a great spot for art lovers and those seeking a calm environment. The permanent collection, including works like Bouguereau's La Vierge aux anges, is especially impressive, with guests often spending hours contemplating the masterpieces on display. The museum and surrounding grounds also feature many fun statues outside the buildings, which visitors can see even after closing time. The staff is known for being compassionate and helpful, making planning and visits easier for everyone. Visitors have praised the well-curated exhibits, the amazing view, and the gift store, as well as the rich cultural experience the museum offers without any entry fee. One employee, Harrison, has been particularly helpful and passionate in making visits enjoyable.

From Forest Lawn Museum

First opened in 1952, the Forest Lawn Museum is located adjacent to the Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection at Forest Lawn – Glendale. Forest Lawn’s founder, Dr. Hubert Eaton, wrote in his Builder’s Creed that our park should be “a place where artists study and sketch; where school teachers bring happy children to see the things they read of in books.” In that spirit, the Forest Lawn Museum displays a permanent collection, as well as world-class rotating exhibits. With engaging special exhibits and free educational and artistic activities, there is always something new to experience.
