About Milestones Movement Therapy
Milestones Movement Therapy is a rehabilitation, performance, and movement education company that offers a variety of therapy services to help decrease chronic pain. The therapists at Milestones are masters of human movement and can assess what the body needs to improve pain status and push fitness goals. The company educates the community through social media and live seminars to help people learn more about the body they live in. Clients have praised the therapists at Milestones Movement Therapy, with one reviewer describing a massage as the "best massage of my life." Another reviewer found "unexpected and profound improvement" in their mobility after receiving the company's unique combination of Shockwave and Laser therapy, medical massage, and targeted exercises. A third reviewer was able to reach their goal of getting back to regular exercise with the personalized approach at Milestones Movement Therapy. Miles and his staff are first rate, and clients have found them to be patient and knowledgeable. Reviewer Russ went to Milestones for massages to work out a back issue, but when that didn't fix the problem, the functional movement trainer helped him understand the root cause of the pain and gave him daily stretching exercises, which began to straighten his back out within 2 days and had him back to normal within a month. Another reviewer, who had multiple surgeries and chronic degenerative conditions, started going to Milestones for Class IV laser treatments and functional movement therapy, and working with Ryan helped them regain near-normal knee flexion/extension within 3 weeks after a total knee replacement, allowing them to continue enjoying an active lifestyle.
Over the past twelve months I have experienced chronic knee pain, which became increasingly severe and slower to heal each time I rushed back into physical activity. After a weekend of skiing I found myself with a swollen knee and very limited range of motion. MRI results showed no ligament damage and mild inflammation. My sports doctor recommended rest and a cortisone shot if the pain didn’t subside on its own. The pain didn’t go away. A friend recommended visiting Milestones Movements before going through with the cortisone shot, and I am sure glad he did. Miles spent the better part of our first meeting discussing historical injuries, both severe, notable experiences and the small injuries that often go undiagnosed. He quickly determined there was a good likelihood repeated ankle sprains had caused my body to overcompensate on one side, weakening certain muscles and putting extra strain on my knee. Over time, the stress escalated and altered my gait, only furthering the damage and causing my knee to cave in. Over the past couple months, Miles has taught me to combat this issue by improving strength and flexibility in various muscles throughout the subject leg, and concurrently retraining me to move with my natural gait. Although not easy at first, the results became evident quickly. The combination of exercises and targeted movement changes has greatly reduced the everyday pain I was experiencing and allowed me to slowly return to higher intensity physical exercise. Miles is a thoughtful person and a great listener, tailoring his approach to the individual feedback and personalities of his clients. Although a cortisone shot may be a more immediately noticeable solution, Miles’ systematic lessons have a much more lasting effect and benefit. For those willing to commit to healing injuries by addressing the root problem rather than short term pain relief, Milestones Movements is the place to go!
I made my screening appointment with Miles, after years of on and off, one sided back/glute pain and multiple attempts to fix things on my own. As an athlete in my youth and active adult (ie.-CrossFit) I often worked around or through discomfort to “tough it out”. Seeking help is hard on one’s pride and an added expense. However, after the initial screening session it was clear to me that I had movement areas that needed attention. Miles very honestly and kindly explained and outlined how, together, we would address these off balance movement patterns and get me back to my normal routine. There were times of great frustration as I began to build back the correct mind/body connections. Thankfully with patience and consistency following Miles plan, relief has been found but more importantly my mind and body are communicating more clearly. From where I started to where I am know makes asking for help and investing in my wellbeing more then worth it. Miles thank you for your passion in functional movement. Such a great journey for any person looking to improve their quality of life. - Marissa Roberts
