My daughter has been a patient for the last 8 years. It was amazing before Dr Mandalaris retired. But it quickly went downhill when it became kids care. It became cold and stark, all the fun and welcoming decor replaced with your basic plain furniture, no more train circling the room as a distraction for the kids, no more treasure box surprise when the visit was over, no more kid friendly things which is odd since its a PEDIATRIC dental office! It became a revolving door with staffing, not just the receptionist and assistants, but also the dentists. We never knew who we would get when we showed up for her appointment, there was never any communication when there was a new dentist. You were no longer able to get ahold of the dental office directly, calls now go to an answering service. The people answering the phones are very scripted and never seem to have an answer to your questions. The only thing that kept us there was the orthodontist, my duaghter was very comfortable with her and she was a genuinly caring person. Well, as I should've expected, our most recent visit was a new orthodontist. Again, no communication was given to us that there was a change. The final straw for me was when we checked in, I tried to update my insurance info with the receptionist. She told me it wasnt necessary because we didn't have a balance for ortho. Seemed odd but she should know her job better than me so I didnt question it. Today i received a statement from my previous insurance declining the claim. The visit my daughter had DID have a charge and since the employee wouldn't update my insurance info, it was sent to my old one. The whole place is terrible. The majority of the employees seem very disengaged which im sure is part of the reason there is such high turnover there. This has become corporate, not kid friendly, not personable. Your child becomes just a transaction. 10/10 dont recommended, find a pediatric dentist that is kid centric.

We started going here over a decade ago when Dr Mandelaris owned it. After he sold the practice we hung in but the dentists changed often as did the orthodontists and there was so much difference in the approach of each orthodontist that we eventually switched to another orthodontist for continuity of care, and because the last orthodontist we saw was awful. When Dr Phan joined the practice we were truly thrilled my kids and I loved him and his “bedside” manner. He was clear and thorough and kind but insistent when we had things that needed improvement. We stayed the last few years specially because we like Dr Phan so much. Yesterday we found out at our regular cleaning that Dr Phan wasn’t the dentist here anymore, and while the hygienist we had for our appointment was stellar, I think it’s officially time to find another dentist. There are enough negatives in this practice that I’ve said for the last year that if Dr Phan left so would we. They aren’t awful, but you never know who you’re going to see, and if they are going to be gentle with your kid.

Our son was hesitant to go to the dentist, as can be expected. We have been twice now and he loves it. They really know how to make it a positive experience. From the office decorated with air planes and working model train, to the movie he can watch, to the little things like sun glasses during exam and goodie bags. The real magic happens with the effort put out by staff to connect with the kids, go slow, and respect and accommodate the child’s hesitations whenever they can.
