I practice yoga at soul play for a little more than a year, since I moved to Culver City. The unlimited membership is perfect. They have so many kinds of classes and instructors. And they are always trying new ones. It's super worth it.

As a beginning yoga practitioner, I've left Soulplay Yoga feeling cheered and invigorated. I began classes at Soulplay because other friends of mine in the Culver City area recommended it highly. So I started, with a little trepidation because I am rather out of shape. The teachers of Soulplay Yoga have been nothing but welcoming and supportive. When they offer corrections, their guidance is gentle. Every teacher has emphasized safety and "listening to one's body," which is great. Classes with a "mindfulness" focus help to soothe the constant hustle-bustle of my mind, so I leave with a calmer mind as well as a more limber frame. The space of Soulplay is very calming, with lots of natural light, a big mirror, and a handsome mandala painted on the wall. The other walls are a blank grayish-white, which is great for focusing on the moment. The teachers are practiced at creating a space for calm mindfulness, coupled with physical exertion. I look forward to stretching my abilities (literally!) and working my way up to more challenging classes. There's a Candlelight Yin Heated Yoga that I'm kind of "working towards," because that sounds dreamy!

I came here on a Sunday to do a single yoga class with my best friend and had an amazing time!!! The class was with Stephen James who was subbing in for another instructor and he was phenomenal. I don't do yoga, so I was nervous about going but the studio was very welcoming. They had baskets to put your belongings in the front and mats/blocks in the back as well for anyone who didn't bring any. The class was extremely adaptable and he gave a lot of easy and hard options which were great for the variety of people we had in the class. It also offered a lot of balance and flexibility positions which I loved! The class also had the most welcoming vibe. It was snooty or dead serious and Stephen was coming around giving corrections and making some lighthearted jokes which I loved. We also did some breathing exercises at the end which were something new I had never tried. Wish I lived closer so I could come back more frequently! Stephen is great and I would definitely recommend a class with him if you want to challenge yourself.
