We had our roof done a year ago and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. We did have to wait a few months because they were so busy but if you can wait for them it is well worth it!! They did a phenomenal job and George is super to deal with Couldn't recommend them more
I just had my roof redone by George and his crew and I couldn't be happier. I never told George this, but my dad was a meticulous woodworker who trained in Japan, so my bar for vetting a contractor is pretty high. For example, as a kid, I helped frame the house I grew up in and 20+ years later, I helped my dad reroof our house. In any case ... here's what I did during my vetting process. It seems there are two types of roofing companies on yelp. Big companies with multiple work crews and small companies with one or two work crews. I got four quotes, 2 from big companies, 2 from smaller companies including 1 from George. George's quote wasn't the lowest, but it was WAY lower than the quotes I got from the 2 big companies. Here's what the experience was like. Highly-rated big company: An administrative assistant called me back. SOS Roofing: George, the owner of the company, called me back. Highly-rated big company: A rep shows up at my house and tries to fly a drone over my one-story house to take pictures, but can't figure out how to start it. He then takes a ladder out of his truck but has difficulty closing the roll-up bed cover and starts slamming it. When he finally gets up on the roof with his tablet, he precariously leans over the edge to see if there are two layers of shingles after I tell him there are two layers. (I have visions of him sliding head first off my roof.) Afterwards I let him inside to inspect the attic to see if I have two layers of shingles. Apparently he thought he had x-ray vision, but I was amused and wanted to see what he would say. Afterwards, he tried to convince me to get rid of my solar panels. He also tried to convince me that his company could reframe my skylights and I could just reinstall the current skylights and save some money. SOS Roofing: A few days later George showed up and calmly asked about my roof and what I wanted. He expertly climbed his ladder onto my roof with just a pencil, tape measure, and notepad. I told him about the two layers of shingles and he took the time to climb back down, carefully reposition his ladder, and inspect the edge of the shingles from his ladder. He noted our skylights were not to code and told us a reasonable way he could replace them. After we selected SOS Roofing, George continued to communicate with us regularly in a professional and respectful way. His emails, phone calls, and all our conversations were conducted in a way that showed he really cared about the quality of his work. If you want to pay a premium to one of the bigger companies so they can cover their overhead such as hiring an administrative assistant, buying drones and tablets, and sending over reps who don't comport themselves with care, then feel free to do so. But if you want to hire someone who does everything with care, definitely go with SOS roofing.
I'm so glad we chose George with SOS! Exemplary! His crew were so efficient, very clean, extremely professional and very respectful. His quote beat out 7 other companies! His work is superb! I highly recommend his company, I feel like he's "old school", he's exactly how I wish all companies were. Thank you again George and crew, you did an amazing job!
