When you first contact him and try to discuss what you need and how he prefers to communicate he comes across as incompetent and disinterested. This is because he is both. Trust your instinct when you meet him. He literally told me he was filing for an simple extension for my business taxes (the first and only thing I had him do for me) and not only failed to do it, he lied to me about it. I verified this by calling the IRS. I even asked him beforehand if he had the time and interest to take me on as a client and he could’ve easily said no. But he lied. He couldn’t file 2 pages of basic paperwork for the extension, and he cost me a lot of time and money.
So, Jacob Danfoura, for well over a decade, has been my accountant. And even though I live in Portland, OR now, and have moved my business up into the Pacific-Northwest (I'm a Mortgage Protection/Life Insurance/Final Expense agent), I originally found Jacob in 2005, through a peer of mine, who was also a solopreneur, and found Jacob when she needed a professional to handle her books. There were other top reasons she decided to work with Jacob: Jacob was honest and professional, AND he didn't make her feel intimidated, uncomfortable or afraid to ask Jacob fiduciary questions she didn't have an answer to. Yes, that's right: Jacob didn't make my peer feel stupid, if she asked him questions. Nor did he make her feel that she was a client he didn't have time for. And I can attest that that's also been my overall experience, with Jacob, as well. Never have I felt rushed, or that I wasn't an important client to him. Remember everyone, the old adage may be well-worn, but it's only because it's true: People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care (about them). Jacob has been a godsend bookkeeper, and I have recommended him to so many friends, family members, colleagues, peers on both coasts, who are looking for a solid recommendation on a trustworthy professional accountant, that I've lost count how many people I've recommended Jacob to. And, anytime I'm out and about, and I hear someone complaining about not being able to find a suitable accountant/bookkeeper, I raise my hand to enthusiastically recommend Jacob Danfoura at CBS to them. Just knowing how solidly Jacob works for me, as my accountant, really does allow me to sleep well at night. It's the little things, like worrying about taxes, that can keep me up at night, and I'm happy to share I haven't collected any grey hair or wrinkles, because I know Jacob Danfoura is ON it! Besides, I need my sleep. Sleep is important! One more thing: What is one of our greatest fears? To be audited by the IRS, right? Well....it happened to me, and it was truly TERRIFYING & SURREAL. But, because of Jacob, I survived it unscathed. And during my audit, Jacob worked diligently around the clock, until everything was positively resolved for me. I'm pleased to share that my IRS case was completed with "No Change" *Standing Ovation for my amazing bookkeeper, who helped me through my IRS audit nightmare* I know that I'll continue to recommend Jacob to everyone I know, when they are looking for a recommendation for an outstanding, professional, caring and absolutely awesome accountant and/or bookkeeper. That person, ladies and gentlemen of Yelp, is Jacob Danfoura. Thank you Jacob, for taking such good care of me, and everyone I've recommended to you. We love you, and Columbia Business Services.
