About Olivet Gardens of Cypress Lawn Memorial Park
Olivet Gardens of Cypress Lawn Memorial Park is a nice and peaceful place to spend time remembering loved ones. The indoor facilities are well kept, with rooms that are plenty big and clean, stocked bathrooms, and diligent staff who are sensitive to personal needs. The business ethic is very pleasing. The landscaping and grounds can be beautiful and clean, though there have been past concerns about them being unkempt. A significant issue is that people walk their dogs on the grounds, leaving a ton of dog crap everywhere, which detracts from the respectful atmosphere. The management has shown they listen to families, making improvements when concerns are raised. The facility also includes outdoor spaces suitable for ceremonies. While COVID regulations have limited certain offerings like food for guests, the staff is helpful in arranging spaces for flowers and other tributes.
I have family who are buried here: Grandparents and a great-aunt and great-uncle. I can't speak to the funeral home workers, and that's just because three of my family members passed away before I was born and I never had to talk to the workers about funeral arrangements. It is a nice and peaceful place to spend time thinking about and remembering your loved ones, but my biggest gripe is with people who apparently walk their dogs here. Every time I come here, I notice there is a ton of dog crap everywhere. All I ask for is that you have a bit of respect for where you take your dogs. This is a cemetery. We just want to come and see our loved ones who are no longer with us without having to sidestep your dog's crap. Since you don't have the common sense to not bring your dogs here, at least have the decency to clean up after them.
Olivet needs to resolve some serious basics/safety issues. 1) unsafe dead trees are literally falling on monuments breaking headstones. Uprooting stones 2) dozens of water faucets are not working or capped. Making it very difficult to change water or water or clean. 3) grass is basically dead or dirt in a lot of the areas. 4) mausoleum has a serious water leakage issue where water is tunneling under paint and dripping out of walls. 5) roadways have mud and dirt runoff/ dead sticks/pine cones or trash in gutters. Cypress lawn needs to resolve these issues ASAP and retain a level of professionalism as other cemetery locations. It's really embarrassing and disrespectful for the residents seeking their final resting place.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! I came today to visit my parents and the landscaping/ grounds were so clean & just beautiful. I had previously left an unsatisfactory review awhile back regarding how unkempt & downright awful the grounds were. I was so happy today to see somebody heard the families who want their loved resting beautifully & did something about it. Again, thank you.
