I am making the transition to hand controls for my car. As part of this, I recently took an initial evaluation / driving lesson with Derrick. He was great. He patiently showed me the different types of hand controls, how they work, and answered my questions. I then went on a driving lesson with Derrick in his car that is outfitted with hand controls. This initial visit was very thorough, taking about two hours. I now have a sense of how hand controls work, the various options available, and what will and won’t work for me. Overall this visit was very useful; I don’t know how I would’ve figured it all out without Derrick’s help. I highly recommend him.
Derrick did a great job teaching my visibly impaired son how to drive. He also helped me learn how to help him and dispensed some life advice (don’t worry about how fast others are going) too.
100 stars. I will forever be grateful to Derrick Scott and Apex Driving School. He gave me the gift of independence through driving after my mobility impairment. He gently helped me learn to drive again using hand controls. I was so nervous at first but he always stayed calm and gave me encouragement and confidence and I always felt safe. He even came out on a special trip after hand controls were installed in my old car bc they felt strange to me compared to what I learned on. Cannot praise Derrick enough. His skills and compassionate training changed my life for the better.
