Reviews for Sears Window Replacement

Had an estimate to replace windows. Way overpriced. I had to sit through a 2 hour presentation. I told the sales person I didn't want to spend a lot of money because I didn't think I'd be there more than 5 years. The quote came back really high and the person would not send me a copy of the breakdown for the estimate. Why would I even consider a company that won't give a formal written quote?

We contracted Sears to install central air conditioning for our house. They contract out the actual installation work so don't think this review is about the sub-contractor. This review is concerning the project management and subsequent action by the company. The project management was a problem. The project manager was supposed to come to our house and inspect the site, but didn't. So when the sub-contractor showed up, they found asbestos and couldn't proceed until it had been removed. We promptly called in a company to remove it but then the project manager had the gall to blame the delay and rescheduling of the sub-contractor on us. Sears was also supposed to file some paperwork with the city upon completion, but didn't despite repeated calls to the project management. Post project, Sears is now selling my contact info (cellphone number) so I'm getting unsolicited sales calls for home improvements. The last two were maintenance for my A/C, complete with scare tactics and today, exterior house painting. I wouldn't recommend Sears Home Improvement. Maybe this is due to desperate acts by a dying retailer.
