I have been in the Berkeley area trying different hair stylists out and I simply cannot recommend Ja enough. She's super considerate and professional and it truly feels like she cares that you walk out with a haircut you really like. A bit pricey compared to other salons in the area but I don't mind paying more when I can trust my hair will not be ruined.

Great cuts and styling at an affordable price! The salon owner is so experienced and lovely -- she took the time to listen and respond to all my concerns, while being efficient and timely. The shop location is convenient and cozy, and out of the many Berkeley hair salons I've gone to, Shear Perfection is my top pick. The student discount is generous as well! I've been growing my hair out for a while and it had gotten pretty scraggly. I came in for a trim and curtain bangs. She suggested layers to help make my hair fuller. I figured I'd try it and at first I was unsure, but let me tell you, I have been looking for this haircut my whole life! My hair looks so full and healthy and I LOVE my curtain bangs! When I asked her how to keep my hair from getting so frizzy she yelled at me (nicely) for using normal hair elastics and gave me HER OWN scrunchie to try! She is the sweetest, most efficient, affordable, and skilled hair dresser in the area and I have NEVER in my 22 years felt hotter lol. My favorite haircut yet!
