I did several physical therapy for my knee, foot, shoulder, back and wrist. Doing Pilates have help me strengthen my muscles. I have less pain in my knees, joints and have finally able to walk barefooted..which is a struggle for me before. They modify the exercise if you have some body limitations and still get the result you are aiming for. People have noticed, I’m standing tall.. not slouching… I have firmer muscles and have more energy. My sister in law noticed the changes in me… she tried and now we are both loving it. Pilates is for everyone.

At 64 yrs old, I have never enjoyed the gym scene, but knew that I wanted to work out to become stronger. A friend invited me to Club Pilates. When she said it was good for our age, ailments (bad knees) and that there was a mix of women grandmother age plus younger, it took the intimidation away and I wanted to try it. I initially signed up for 8 sessions a month, but after the month was over I changed it to unlimited classes. It is the first time I actually looked forward to going to workouts. I love the zen type feel with lower music and lights. The instructors are able to walk up and down the isle to remind you to hold your core and glutes tight and to breathe. The small class (10) makes it easy to converse with other women if you choose to do so. And women help each other if you don’t understand a particular instruction. As far as the workouts- I leave the class feeling taller and with a tighter tummy. All of that makes me want to eat healthier and anxiously await the next class. I love the app on my phone as you can book your classes and change classes very easily. Thank you Club Pilates for giving me a program that I can actually do and look forward to.

Pilates has become my new favorite thing to crave. It is so different than what I had expected! It is low impact and designed for people with injuries, so I am able to do it and progress, even though I have limited use of my ankle. I love the consistency of every class. 50 minutes, every time, always starts and ends on time -no 55 min. sometimes, or 45 min. other times. That is important to me. I also love that each class is challenging and I feel like I got a great workout; however, I am not so sore that I can not take another class the next day-or even the same day. I am stronger, have more stamina, and it is improving my pelvic floor-another benefit I had not anticipated. In each class you have your own defined space, you listen to the instructor, and everyone is focusing on themselves, not on the other people in the room and how you might or might not be measuring up to them. Another great thing-the varied people in the room! Bodies of all shapes and sizes, just working out together. Pilates is really so darn great!
