About Movewell
Movewell is a movement studio in downtown Arcata that offers a variety of classes to help people love their bodies through movement. Classes include Pilates, Barre, Dance, Yoga, Aerial Yoga, and more, as well as private sessions, workshops, and online subscriptions. I tried the Candlelight Yoga Nidra class with a friend. It means Yoga sleep, we didn't know that. There is no movement. You just lay still on your back for an hr. and focus on body parts. There were no candles as the picture showed(...?) The Instructor was rambling on for 10 min. at the beginning of the hour, which made it hard to relax, and the guided meditation was mostly slow and boring. Yet, the sound bowl at the end was a nice touch. The place was clean and we might try another class that looks fun with actual movement.
I recently had the pleasure of taking a Pilates class with Tamara at Movewell, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience. Tamara is an exceptional instructor, and her expertise in kinesiology and sports medicine shines through in her teaching.What impressed me the most about Tamara was her ability to cater to students of all levels. As a beginner, I was a little apprehensive about trying Pilates, but Tamara was incredibly patient and mindful of my needs. She took the time to introduce me to the reformer and explain each exercise and its benefits, making me feel comfortable and confident throughout the class. I started going twice a week and I loved the classes. Soon, I was taking classes 6 days a week. All the instructors are very professional. They make sure you are doing the exercises correctly and safely. I highly recommend Movewell and it is fun!
