Shawna, of Senior Helpers of North- Central OC, put on a free painting class for seniors at the West Anaheim Youth Center. I love crafty things so signed up. Our 'assignment' was an abstract meditative painting using acrylic paint markers. They had several samples to suggest what to do and she guided us through each step. It was very relaxing and I really enjoyed the event and am looking forward to them returning in December.

I can't recommend the virtual dementia simulation enough. It's well worth the time for anyone who is involved in dementia caregiving. It's one thing to learn about symptoms, but feeling the impact of these conditions in your own body can inform the care that you give beyond measure. I would love to see something like this available everywhere to family members upon diagnosis. Everyone at this location was welcoming and warm - but the fact that they host this experience here is a game-changer. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Senior Helpers.
