I’ve had the privilege of attending both the original Shadow Week and Shadow Week 2.0, and each time I’ve come away with a deeper understanding of dogs, myself, and the relationship between us.

What I enjoy most about this program is the philosophy of letting dogs truly be dogs—giving them freedom and space to be themselves instead of micromanaging or over-controlling their behaviours. It’s less about rigid management and more about understanding where your dog is at: when to simply let them be, when to step in with support, and when a correction is actually appropriate.

This program helped me approach dogs less as a math equation and more as individuals. It has shifted the way I think about training: I learned to pause, observe, and respond thoughtfully instead of trying to predict or control every outcome.

Another highlight is the community it creates. You’re surrounded by people who share the same passion, which makes it easy to bounce ideas around, ask questions without judgment, and deepen your understanding of why, how, and when to act with dogs.

The balance of hands-on training and observation is invaluable. Watching other dogs work through challenges, it pushed me to think outside the box and be more creative in my handling. This program has not only improved the way I interact with my own dogs, but also given me a clearer sense of what’s going on in their heads and what’s truly supportive versus unnecessary interference.

For anyone looking to expand their skills, gain perspective, and walk away with practical tools for real-life training, Monique’s Shadow Week is an incredible experience

The entire team at The Naughty Dogge are amazing. As the owner of a commercial dog walking company I had heard so many testimonials before having personal experience. One of our most challenging pups went to her for a board and train and the results were extraordinary. His recall, reactivity and tolerance for being handled imoroved dramatically. Its almost incomprehensible that it was the same dog. A shiba with reliable recall is not somthing I thought I would ever encounter. Years later i finally got the opportinity to meet her and witness her awesome in person. When you hear people talk about timing and feel this is what they mean. The way she interacts with dogs is awe inspiring. There is no one size fits all approach here. She takes the time to not just get to know the dogs but also their human handlers. She shows such unbelivable commitment, compassion and care for her clients. Having the opportunity to shadow this legendary trainer for the better part of two weeks was an honour. I came in thinking I knew a bit about dogs and now realize I have so much more to learn. I am counting down the days until I can learn from her again. Her bravery seminar was life changing for both my dog and our relationship. She is no nonsense, candid and so refreshingly honest. I emphatically recomend.

Monique is real, authentic and genuine. She is also kind, generous and really fun to spend time with. She advocated for my dog, was able to help me understand him better, embrace and appreciate who he is and provide me with some valuable feedback on my role in improving our relationship, both in day to day life and in work. Her suggestions and observations are still percolating and will have impact for a long time to come. She will not tell you what you want to hear, but what your dog needs you to hear. 110% recommend her for pet and sport dog people.

Bringing my pup to Monique saved her life. I recommend and encourage anyone who is having troubles with their dog to go to her. She will be honest and upfront. She won't sugar coat what you're doing wrong. But that is what makes her extraordinary. Listen to her. You won't regret it

My dog Bear can be a handful and we knew we needed training so we enrolled in Pet Manners at Naughty Dogge. Monique's team was able to manage him and provide us with the skills we needed to get his behaviour under control. Each dog was treated uniquely and I would highly recommend taking the course.

My husband and pup have had the best experience. This is the most improvement we have seen for our dog in the last year.

My dog Beau came to Monique scared of his own shadow, but Monique and her team have completely changed our lives for the better! Her ability to adapt her skills and knowledge to the dog in front of her allows her to provide an unparalleled training experience. I am so grateful to her and her trainers for getting Beau to where he is now. I was at a loss with how to help my dog when I found her, and I could not recommend her services more. Beau walks out of each session with more confidence and ease every week. While some reviews mention her blunt approach, I appreciate her candor as her love and passion for these dogs is what shines through. I wish I could give a higher rating than 5 stars.

Highly recommend Monique and the team! She was a huge help with our previous dog that was a rescue. We are now seeing her again for our new puppy. Great approach and support.
