I was nervous about transferring my dog to a new vet because of the trauma she experienced with her previous veterinarian. My dog does not like being touched, and I always felt that her former vet did not take enough measures to help her feel comfortable, especially when giving injections.
That’s why I was so surprised and impressed by Dr. Michelle Mak at Richmond Animal Hospital. My dog received two shots and didn’t even react when they were administered. One of my dogs managed to eat half of a plastic meat tray (no meat, just the plastic). Naturally, we completely freaked out and reached out to Richmond Animal Hospital. I initially texted because we’ve had bad experiences with other clinics in the past, so I assumed it would be the same everywhere. I was scared to call them. I’m happy to say I was completely wrong.
About an hour later, Josie from the front desk called me and kindly let me know that I could have called them directly and they would have helped right away. Josie was exceptional on the phone — very receptive, kind, polite, and professional. She helped us book a same-day appointment.

We had a great experience bringing our cat in for a check-up and rabies vaccine. All the staff we interacted with were super professional and knowledgeable. They were also very helpful and gave us lots of useful information to prepare for our international travel.
