For anyone looking for the right VR specialist, I would like to share my recent experience with Dr. Sheldon Marks. It began with a 35 minute phone consultation. He was extremely knowledgeable. Not only did he answer all of our questions, but had many of his own regarding our personal lives. By the time we got off the phone, I felt like I had made a new friend. We shared more than a few laughs during the conversation. Within a few days, I scheduled my appointment for June 20th with Dawn. She was very friendly and sent me all the information via email the same day. Included were options for lodging and transportation service at a substantial discount. We chose to stay at another location, but the hotels offered looked nice. On the day of the procedure, we arrived at the office a little before 7am where we were greeted by Harold, the nurse. He took us to the lounge and helped us complete the paper work. He was extremely nice and made the entire process feel comfortable and informal. Soon we were greeted by Dr. Marks, who gave us a brief anatomy lesson and explained all the details of the procedure including the self care protocols for the recovery period, all of which were included in the very detailed post op instruction manual we would take home. I was then taken back to the OR and within a few minutes the IV was started and it was sleepy time. The procedure went great with successful bilateral VV connections and the fluid drawn during the surgery was very promising. I was 8 years post vasectomy at the time of the reversal. The reversal took about 3 hours since my vasectomy doc got a little careless and there was some extra work to be done to make the reversal. At no point have I experienced any pain or discomfort, swelling was minimal along with a small bruise on the right side, which has completely disappeared now. I traveled home the next day by air. Dr. Marks and his entire staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful throughout the entire process. He personally called me the night of the procedure and his office has followed up with me twice already. I will hear from them again at the two week mark. He even had us call and let them know we made it home okay. Overall I couldn’t be more pleased with my choice and it was definitely worth the trip from WV.
