B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga Studio

A friend recommended this studio and I've been going for several months now. I moved here 7 years ago and had not found a class/studio I really liked in Tucson, despite the abundance of yoga studios and trying many of them. The space is clean with lovely hardwood floors and nice natural light from two windows that look south from the second floor studio. The studio is also well equipped with props of all sorts. Katherine, the owner and principal teacher, is truly a master of her craft and continues to be a dedicated student of Iyengar yoga. 5.0 star rating 4/22/2019 I agree with everything in Gail W.'s review. I especially liked her comment: "If you understand and appreciate the depth of classical yoga, this studio is a gem. Not for fans of trendy yoga." My daughter-in-law has often mentioned the benefits of classical yoga to me. She has practiced B.K.S Iyengar yoga for 20 years and knew I could benefit from it. She said if I was interested, she would look for a good practitioner in Tucson (she lives in LA). I'm so glad that she found Iyengar Yoga Studio of Tucson. The practice is changing my life.

For classical Iyengar yoga in Tucson, this is the place to be. The studio is clean and fully outfitted with all the traditional Iyengar props including rope walls, trestle, setubanda benches and backbend racks. Classes are small to medium size (though the studio fills for special workshops). Teaching is classical Iyengar - which is my personal favorite - with highly trained, knowledgeable instructors. For a small studio, there's a generous array of classes offered and prices are quite competitive at $12-19/Class. If you understand and appreciate the depth of classical yoga, this studio is a gem. Not for fans of trendy yoga.
