I want to preface this review with the fact that I was overseas recently and went to an acupuncturist who helped me immeasureably. I wanted to find someone in Tucson who could continue to help me with my issues. This practice came up with many 5 star reviews so I made an appointment and went to see Juan. It is a lovely space and very clean. However, I can say without doubt that this visit was a waste of my money ($140) and time. Firstly, the pulse reading (crucial in good acupuncture) was perfunctory. Secondly, tongue reading (also crucial in good acupuncture) wasn’t worth the 2 seconds (not hyperbole) that Juan took to do it. Thirdly, during the initial consultation before the treatment, Juan suggested that I say a Christian prayer. At that point I should have just got up and walked out. That suggestion was more than HIGHLY inappropriate - which I pointed out to him. I decided to go ahead with the treatment. I lay down on the table and Juan asked me where I was feeling pain!!! I did not go in there for any specific physical pain. At this point, I should of stood up and left. I didn’t. He proceeded to put some needles in, here and there - VERY OBVIOUSLY NOT BASED ON PULSE READINGS. I lay there for 30 minutes and then the treatment finished. In the room, he suggested that I buy some Chinese herbs and a liniment, I told him, that due to the medications I was on, I could NOT take Chinese herbs. This had been very well emphasized to me by the acupuncturist that I had seen overseas. I went out to pay for the treatment where Juan STILL tried to sell me the herbs and liniment. I told him once again that I couldn’t take the herbs. So, in summary, if you want a relaxing experience for quite a lot of money, then, by all means go here. If you want a traditionally trained acupuncturist who really knows what he’s doing, I would suggest that you keep looking.

At the end of July, I had a serious fall, and no matter what I tried, my back just wouldn’t heal. I was discouraged and in pain when I came to see Juan. From the very first treatment, I knew I was in the right hands. After only three sessions, not only is my back finally improving, but my whole perspective on acupuncture has changed.
I also suffer from peripheral neuropathy, and after just two treatments, I began to feel sensation in my feet again—something I honestly didn’t think was possible. To me, that feels like a true miracle. On top of that, Juan is now helping me manage my RA, and for the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful about my health.
And it’s not just the treatments. Sherry brings such warmth and light to the space—she’s a beautiful soul who makes you feel genuinely cared for the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is calm, comforting, and healing in itself.
I can’t wait for each appointment, because I leave feeling better in my body, my spirit, and my outlook on life!!

I have been seeing Juan for several years now. I am 84 and I have felt so much better after my treatments. I would recommend that if you are having health issues, you should make an appointment to see Juan.

A friend referred me to Juan and Sherry a few years ago and I have been going ever since. From the moment you walk in, the space feels calm and welcoming. Juan takes time to listen to your concerns and explains how the sessions work. The rooms are spotless and the heat lamps keep you cozy while you meditate. Sherry, always so kind, is waiting for you with a glass of water when you are finished. Afterwards, you are feeling relaxed all day. If you are considering acupuncture, I can’t recommend Juan and Sherry enough!

Finding this practice was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I first came here while navigating a very difficult and life changing health diagnosis, and I was searching for support & healing on a different level. I wanted something deeper than just treatment. What I found in Juan & Sherry was so much more. They are both true beams of light! Every single visit leaves me feeling uplifted, seen, and genuinely cared for. I had open heart surgery in September. A nurse mentioned that acupuncture may help accelerate my healing. She recommended American Health Acupuncture. Juan was amazing. He treated me a number of times. I healed incredibly fast. All of my doctors had never seen anyone recover as fast from heart surgery. It was incredible. I also had muscle spasms all over my back. He was able to stop the spasms immediately. I highly recommend American Health Acupuncture for treatments.

American Health Acupuncture is wonderful! From the moment you walk in, you are like family. I have been working with Juan since moving to AZ just under 3 years ago. As a previous patient of acupuncture in another state, I was looking for a person to continue my care and understand my needs. Juan did just that! Juan has helped me in numerous ways from working mentally on my stress level (leaving it all behind) to my autoimmune disease (keeping it in check and relieving pain as needed) and my asthma . He has also helped my teenage son with injuries from sports and growing pains. Could not say enough about Juan and Sherri! Very fortunate to have found them!
