“I got my CDL through Southwest at the end of 2021 and returned to get a quick refresher after being out of the truck for nearly a year. Contacted Steve to see if any arrangements could be made. Teaching people to drive a 60’ vehicle is no walk in the park. He graciously allowed me to return to get a quick refresh. I will say that trucking is not easy, and is not for the weak. You have to be on your toes at all times. It was truly a wake up to realize how much I had forgotten in such a short amount of time. Steve placed me with Tom who is great; he’s very patient. The 2 other instructors I talked to while I was there were amazing. All are super patient and want you to do well. When it comes to the driving portion, there are only 4 students per instructor, allowing for more personal attention. When I was first looking to get my CDL, I checked out every school in the valley because I wanted to learn a manual transmission. Southwest is the ONLY school that trains on both automatics and manual. Folks, if you can only do an automatic, you are closing so many doors and doing yourself a huge disservice. All trucking schools in the Valley are relatively the same cost. Go to the place that will give you the tools you need for a basic foundation. These guys do it the right way, and I can’t see it done any other way.

April definitely got my Self-Reflection going, which is really what the whole program is supposed to be about. That way, next time an "opportunity" to do something against our own, and other people's, best interests occurs, we'll be more likely to think twice, or three times, and NOT do it! ... Adding in her own personality & experiences, and getting the participants to ... well, PARTICIPATE, was well done. ... Phil was my personal instructor in respect to his Pete and I mean to tell you he Delivered. Not to cut the other staff out of the Equation, Pre-Trip, was a variety of instructors with a background in the trucking company in various positions in their lives.
