I pop in Friday as I’m in the area from Casa Grande and need a new barber & haircut. Typically I fly to Detroit.
I walk in…empty about 2pm maybe. First chair to the right goes to assist and sends me to the back corner right chair. Immediately I’m afraid because BACK CHAIR? Okay.
I meet Angie and she’s cool. I tell her and show her what I want and tell her I cut this with scissors so I don’t need a lot taken off, no taper, my sides are thin…I give her the whole 9. She combs my hair up and puts a wet towel over it.
What BLACK HAIR do you wet before cutting? Immediately I’m pissed and I know ima be messed up. Listen to the professional right? Not the person who’s had the hair for 40 plus years. I let her know what mousse works for my hair and that I will be mad if she try’s to use LOTTA BOTTA. I’ve tried everything and went to cosmetology school.
She goes and buys something completely different. Tries to cut more, I stop her and say that’s okay. I set an appointment to finish it Saturday cause why not? It’s already messed up might as well let her finish when I have time. She has me follow her on IG, that’s my only means of communication. As I’m running late, I reach out- no reply. I still drive over a hr to get in. She says she can’t take me with major attitude, mind you there were various slots available Friday AND online shows a waitlist available. I told her I messaged her, she said where? I said IG! Like did u FORGET I had no other way of contacting you? I say okay and I’ll go to anyone. Now magically after saying you can take walk-ins…everyone is busy.
Now I’m left looking stupid, 1/2 my head cut. She never even attempted to make another appointment with me. Looking at the page it was clear she can’t cut black hair.

Whenever I travel to Phoenix, I go to Ace Fades 2 for fresh cut in preparation for business meetings and nights out. Strong service, dependable and they keep their appointments. Any chair will do, as far as, a great barber.

I know barbershops don’t seem En Vogue these days but the fact is barbershops are not only the root of hair care but continue being the leaders of the industry. Barbershops perform the styles and cuts others take credit for but be certain the barber you choose is in fact a true professional and when you choose Ace Of Fades you will be in the hands of professionals

Worst haircut I ever got in my life. I came in for a skin fade and the barber shaved a hard part into my head about 1/2" below the other hard part that was shaved into my head. He said he didnt see it yet my hair was 3" long on the top and 3/4" long on the side so it seemed pretty easy for me to "find it." When I went back to see if there was anything that can be done to minimize the absurd look, I was offered the next haircut for free instead of my money back on that one. I would NEVER go back to the same guy that I got the worst fade of my life...
