I finally found my AC team. I've been in Phoenix area for 9 years and initially had several rounds of AC work under home warranty from "other" AC teams. I even later heard of tune ups or check ups and went with one of those from different team. Check ups, I learned, were just measurements and measurements can indicate a drain of the system vs. spec but is typical-- and doesn't "do" anything for the system. I had another fellow come out and check the system and identified a leak... and then recommended I just refill until compressor dies. All of this left me feeling like Phoenix has a lot of AC teams but competency sure did vary and I was left without confidence on reliable team for me. I had my roofing done by a company I trust and a minor bump or interaction on the roof AC (I have two) left it unresponsive-- minor electrical. For the fix they brought in Nathan from Republic and he fixed it promptly. I conveyed my past uncertainties with prior teams and he had quick and honest assessment: check ups aren't worth it; deal with the leak and be proactive would be more prudent rather than waiting for something to break. Nathan offered to take a look at the downstairs AC system and agreed it had a leak and suggested the evaporator be replaced since the AC is a good system otherwise. He was knowledgeable and helpful. He made the order and came in with the fix the next week (first week of May 2020). He hoped he wouldn't see me again but made sure I had his card and I'm glad to share by word of mouth and review that Republic AC does great work and can be trusted-- leaving you with confidence that AC issues are addressed. Nathan had recommended replacing the coolant completely so that any contaminant wouldn't be propagated to the new components. Brilliant and common sense in that advice-- I concurred. Every move, discussion and comments were straight up and no upselling. The intent was purely about proactive and needs to address the system. I couldn't be happier to have paid for the current fix and I'm keeping the cards. If (or when) I have major further concerns (which can happen here in the desert), I'm calling back -- having confidence in my team is a huge load off my shoulders and mind. I'm fully confident now.
We worked with Nathan Gardner and his crew on getting a new AC unit installed. Our first bid for the replacement was going to run us in the neighborhood of $12.5k. Nathan came out and provided a quote that was much, much more reasonable. He even called us when a slot opened, so we were able to get our AC installed before the triple digit days hit. His crew was friendly and I'd recommend them to anyone.
