The service is excellent, and the welcoming atmosphere truly makes customers feel at home. The portions are generous, and the owner is accommodating, even offering to make more vegan options upon request. The menu may be hard to find, but the quality and price point are unmatched, making Jaleen's Beauty Salon Unisex a must-visit for a true taste of the Caribbean.
Authentic Caribbean food. My family is Bajan and we go here at least once a month! Have tried a couple of other spots around the valley, nobody comes close for the quality at this price point.
Me and my friend came to try this place out because we were looking to eat and taste new experiences. I will say, while I'm not very knowing of Caribbean cuisine I'm reviewing this off the basis of prior experiences. When I first walked in, the place had a really "homey" vibe, and I like the small souvenirs and artwork strewn all over the establishment . The kitchen's cleanliness and organization are what I adore most about it. The employees had a kind and inviting manner. I ordered the curry goat with a beef patty and my friend had ordered the stewed oxtail with 3 bourbon wings and three jerk wings. We were thrilled when we first saw the dish because it smelled and looked seasoned. Although I like the succulent goat flesh, I felt it was bland and tasted like star anise. The rice wasn't mushy, but it was overcooked. The potato and plantain were, in my opinion, the most appetizing components of the platter. Let's not even talk about the beef patty. In my opinion, the pastry was more flavorful than the meat itself, and it made me think of the beef patties you get at Dollar Tree. Regarding the wings, the bourbon tasted delicious but was a little too sugary, leaving behind traces of orange chicken. The bourbon flavor I anticipated was not as apparent as I would have liked. Much like an irresponsible father. As for the Jerk sauce it tasted salty with a loud allspice flavor. The chicken tasted pre cooked and gummy. Would I recommend this place? Very hard to tell, initial reviews had built up a very high image of the food. I'd say I left quite unsatisfied.
This is my favorite place to eat by far. Everything on the menu is super good. The place is nice and clean. It's hard to find a menu but it's not impossible to find out what that have.
