About Geek Squad
Geek Squad provides repair, installation, and setup services for a wide range of technology, including computers, tablets, TVs, and home appliances, at numerous Best Buy locations. Customer experiences vary. One customer was extremely happy, reporting that agents quickly diagnosed a PC cooling issue, sourced the correct parts, and completed a repair that dramatically improved performance, leading to a strong recommendation. Another praised an employee for giving clear and useful information and advice regarding a TV repair. However, a less positive experience involved a PC repair for games not loading. The customer paid for a diagnostic service but felt the cleaning was not done as promised and the problem was not duplicated or solved by Geek Squad. They resolved the issue themselves through other means and suggested a different service plan might have been more cost-effective. Overall, the service receives both recommendations for successful repairs and criticism for instances where the service did not meet expectations or solve the problem.
I'm super happy with the geek squad at this location. My pc was running hot. I purchased an aio pump cooler kraken 120 to install myself, which I quickly realized I had no business doing.
Took it to geek squad mon night found out that cooler wouldn't fit. They got me the right cooler/case for my needs and still had it finished by Weds night. Before, my pc was hitting 100°c running premiere pro, playing battlefield, and even minecraft with high-resolution texture packs. Last night, I loaded the cpu trying to get it hot and couldn't get it above 45°c.. wow I couldn't be happier.
Special thanks to Iran, the service you provided, and the extra time you...read full review
Called to see about TV repairs and Melody was able to provide clear and useful information about my Tv's issues immediately. She advised me on what I should do with the TV as far as troubleshooting and future steps to take to try and solve my Tv's issues. Amazing employee.
PC not loading certain games. Tech talked us into $149 diagnostic that would include separately testing & cleaning each component and every pin on the motherboard. Supposedly a discount from $350. Cannot tell if all the components were tested but the PC internals were still covered in thick dust when it was returned. Geek Squad could not duplicate the problem. They guessed the volts/amps might not be reaching the PC and recommended using a surge plug extension. We purchased a surge plug and switched Internet providers for a higher Mbps plan and a new high-end combo modem-router. That solved the problem.Would have been less expensive and probably as effective to...read full review
