I have had many animals in my time . And 5 of them in the last 7 years have needed to go to an emergency veterinarian. I can’t say they did a bad job taken care of my dog because we still have her with us . That being said , in a business that cares for someone’s precious pet should definitely have more caring and understanding of how upset the owner of the pet may be. The first receptionist that we saw when we checked in was VERY SWEET ! The Dr. Held an unconcerned conversation with us . The last receptionist, was just plain outright RUDE , MEAN. Our Great Pyrenees mix had an unknown accident yesterday. She couldn't walk, had minor abrasions on the right rear leg and was lethargic. We live half way between emergency clinics in Fort Smith and Shreveport. I called the Shreveport clinic and the person answering the phone would not give me any guidance so I called the First Smith clinic. He woman asvised me not to give Gretel Ibuprophin or Tylenol, and to keep her immobilized. So we drove to Fort Smith today. These ladies were so helpful. Vet was very professional and explained all our options.

The team was friendly, though a few things didn’t flow well in my opinion. Maybe it’s just the culture of the industry nowadays.
First, I was never given a solid answer about the condition. I got a lot of “I believe” and “I think” when discussing the x-ray results for the torn CCL. It turns out this kind of outcome is common, according to others. Another group was understandably upset and made a good point. We came in to see someone who could give us clear answers, especially since that’s what we paid for — both in the visit fee and the other charges related to our “kid.” We weren’t looking for guesses; we just wanted some answers.... read full review
