I came to the ER with acute, procedure-related pain immediately after a discogram. When Dr. Shahid entered the room, he did not perform a physical exam or fully assess my symptoms before making assumptions about my condition.

He offered a CT scan. I did not refuse it — I simply asked why it was needed, what he was looking for, and whether it was appropriate given the type of post-procedure pain I was having. Instead of explaining his reasoning, he became defensive and documented the scan as “refused,” which is not accurate.

As someone who has survived bulimia, domestic violence, long COVID, and multiple medical challenges, I’ve learned to advocate for myself with clarity and courage. But nothing prepared me for the callous, dehumanizing treatment I recently received from Baptist Health.

After being released from inpatient care during a medical crisis, I discovered—without warning—that I had lost my Medicaid coverage. When I arrived for follow-up treatment, I was told payment was due at the time of service. I calmly explained that I was in a vulnerable place financially and asked for a payment plan or assistance. The ladies at the front desk are so rude and unprofessional it’s unreal. Quit triple booking and making people wait an hour and a half past time the scheduled appointment. If they hate there job that much your in the wrong profession. Worst customer service I’ve ever seen. Won’t be going back! Wish it had a button for no stars!! This place is horrible!!!!!
