The sister hotel a block up the stairs were very helpful. The bathtub was also a treasure - it was huge and also had jets. The cookies were great. The Italian restaurant located on the first floor was overheard to be to die for. Grand Central Hotel consistently delivers a memorable stay, making it a favorite choice for many travelers.
Well I was originally thinking a 4 because there were some minor issues and quirkiness with room fixtures; however, I returned home and left my favorite umbrella there. The next day I called the front desk person who called housekeeping and they found it and shipped it to my home address. Now that's service. Otherwise, it's a great location with parking at the same altitude and 5 minutes walking from most of the historic area & some great restaurants and live music. The front desk staff were excellent and helpful. The hotel itself is about as period as it gets in Eureka. My stay at this hotel was overall good. The Front Desk staff was the absolute best part of my stay. The staff is very helpful, nice, considerate, professional, and informative.
This hotel is obviously a very old establishment. The rooms definitely need updating. The rooms were very clean, which was a very big plus. The bath towels, hand towel and face towels had an odor that reminded me of gym towels that were dried in bulk. Our room faced the street so we expected to hear some vehicle noise which no one can control of course. Unfortunately the windows are very old as well and are single pane. We came up for valentines weekend and had an amazing stay. Chris made booking a super simple experience, Kaleb (guest services) made our stay incredibly enjoyable, and advised us of a few places we hadn’t yet tried in our many trips down. We stayed in a room that had yet to be renovated, so it wasn’t quite as nice as some of the other rooms, but it was still very nice and cozy. It certainly brought a vintage feel while still offering quite a few modern conveniences.
