South Huntsville Veterinary Hospital

I just switched to South Huntsville Veterinary Hospital because they have always been a great supporter of our school (Mountain Gap) participating in our Career and STEAM Fair. Last week I took my 4 cats, and this past Tuesday, I took my dog for their annual checkup and shots. My dog is always a challenge having to start anxiety medicine the night before and the morning of so that she is not as aggressive towards the vet. On top of that I need to put on two muzzles (soft and hard). We saw Dr. Hertha and when he first came in my dog barked agressively at him, but Dr. Hertha took his time, sat down and my dog even came up to him to be petted. In the end Dr. Hertha is the first vet ever that has been able to examine her ears and eyes! I was even amazed that they were able to give her medicine through the mouth. I called him the dog whisperer. I am so glad we switched. Also, with both my cats and dogs, I received a call the next day checking to see how they were doing after the appointment which I thought was very nice. I highly recommend South Huntsville Veterinary Hospital.

It's Dobbs home away from home.

We had two dogs at this vet for a few years. Dr. Wes was usually great with them. Both of our dogs passed and to them it was just very matter of fact and they didn’t show any care. I called to tell them one had unexpectedly passed a day ago, and the receptionist just said “ok. Well it looks like you have a balance to pay now” (for a medication we never got). Zero empathy for us traumatically losing our dog, like it didn’t matter. Dr. Wes had been closely monitoring our other dog and she ended up having to be put down over the weekend at another clinic. We were expecting a call or something from him just to acknowledge or check in since he knew her very well, but never received anything. They need to work on their compassion, especially the front desk worker. I know they deal with it everyday, but you can’t act like that when someone loses their very loved pet (in our case it was 2). Even after years of liking this clinic, I would not recommend because it does matter how you’re treated in the end.

This place is amazing! We were waiting for them to open with an emergency. They greeted us with urgency and kindness. The vet tech told us exactly what to expect. We highly recommend this Team. Gunner H. Thanks you for your kindness and caring.

Dr. Wesley and team are wonderful. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We've never had to waiting the lobby, a vet tech is in the room in a few minutes, and Dr. Wesley is always attentive and thorough.

The location parking isn't the greatest next to the car wash noise, but the facilities are updated and clean. Best part is how quiet it is inside. Some vets have constant barking in the background making our pup more anxious, but never really hear anything here. Very calming atmosphere, not frantic or chaotic.

Dr. Wesley was recommended to us by a number of people. We have been able to get to know Dr. Wesley and his team through office visits and house calls. They are professional, knowledgeable and kind. We are particularly impressed with their communication; providing helpful information on Timber's daily care and guidance on recovery following a procedure. Her procedure was a great success. I know my 12 year old Standard Poodle is in great hands with Dr. Wesley and his team. They truly do care about pets in all stages of life.

Wonderful care and hospitality. I was in from out of town, our dog had an abscess. They got us in asap, had no wait and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Took my dog to the back and doc came in and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Got us in and out and Cash on the mend within 30 minutes. If I lived there I’d definitely use them for primary care.

I took my dog Zyla to Dr. Van Keuren for a consultation about a procedure that isn't commonly available at many hospitals . She was professional, knowledgeable, and patient with my questions. After Zyla's procedure, Dr. Van Keuren personally called to check on her. During the two weeks following the procedure, I had concerns about Zyla’s healing. I called the office, and they promptly scheduled a same-day follow-up appointment. Both the office staff and Dr. Van Keuren were always supportive and attentive to Zyla’s needs. I highly recommend their services.

I was looking for a vet for my dog and got a recommendation from my neighbor to try them. It was a bit of a ride but well worth it. The staff was friendly and doctor was knowledgeable and answered my questions and concerns. They even clipped my dogs nails with visit!!! I definitely would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Dr. Wes was very professional today was my first time there with them, I took my cat. Everything was great, from beginning to end, super quality and empathy. I recommend them and of course I will always come back.
