Maple Hill Cemetery

A quiet place to visit my parent's gravestones. Also, the cemetery is clean and set up to walk around pay respect to the deceased. The grave yard for the Unknown Confederate soldiers who died for a lost cause is a place to visit. Another sight is the tombstone that a tree grew around.

This is a beautiful historic cemetery. Typically this time of year the abundant maple trees are in brilliant colors! [This year, not so much due to the drought]. My family bought plots here in the 1990s and, when my favorite sister and her husband moved back to town several years ago, her husband bought some plots from a NASA worker who had them for sale and they are only yards from the rest of my family's plots. Talk about a score!!!!I love the wide array of tombstones and the abundant walkers [some with pups] who frequent the cemetery. This is a huge and beautiful old cemetery! I finally got to visit for the Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll. They hold this every year, the 3rd Sunday in October. People dress up and learn history of characters and tell their story. It's really cool!
