Upon seeing other reviews, I decided to take the risk and go for Pleva Law because of the lower cost compared to other attorneys. Pleva law was almost 1/3 of the normal cost and they were extremely helpful and thorough from beginning to end. The few one star reviews that I saw on here I wouldn't take seriously, mostly because all they do is post 1 star reviews and their history proves that. We are 1 month past my discharge and their is one creditor that is still trying to collect on a debt, so I called Pleva Law and they jumped right on it. I highly recommend them 100%!

Terrible customer service. Will not think about answering the phone or even replying to text messages. Sorry but I felt like they couldn't care less

Stay away from this lawyer. My case got dismissed cause he did not provide any correct information with the trustee. I had several calls where they call to get all my information and to update it but never they never updated anything with the courts. My case was dismissed cause of this lawyer not doing his job. I am in the middle of filing a complaint and getting my refund cause he didn’t deserve none of the money he received.

This is THE WORST FIRM to come to for bankruptcy, they lack basic knowledge, won’t answer any questions, and will make you look like a fool. They will never be there when you need them, and you’ll probably have to go somewhere else after wasting your hard earned money with them. FIND ANOTHER LAWYER please take heed to this.

Use any other bankruptcy attorney, please trust me. In short, Mr. Pleva lacks communication and you cannot trust the answers he provides to any questions.

I have been trying to get them to give me answers on my case for months. I paid him $1,200 for a chapter 7, it got dismissed because Mr. Pleva was wrong. His office did not communicate any, they didn’t return my calls and I had to physically stop by his office. He encouraged me to convert to chapter 13, so I did. He kept my money although the chapter 7 dismissal stated it should be refunded. I accepted it because we converted it. Although to file chapter 13 is a lot less money up front. The converted chapter 13 case got dismissed. When I asked why, he couldn’t tell me. I physically had to go by his office as they would not return phone calls, texts or emails. He gave me a generic answer it was a form clerical error and if we refiled there would be no issues. So we filed again. Third time. It also got dismissed. I’ve received no communication from him as to why and I’ve actively been seeking it out via calling and email. Yesterday I called, they texted me saying they would call me back and I never got a returned call. I’ve sent an email and left voicemails and responded to their text to zero communication back. I have no idea why my case keeps getting dismissed, he will not communicate. The trustee won’t tell me as I have to consult my lawyer. And I cannot get my lawyer to communicate with me.

My chapter 7 stated my $1,200 should be refunded. It has not been.

On top of it, when the chapter 13 was filed The first time it was a conversion from chapter 7, the second time it was a new filing. The new filing was NOT what Mr. Pleva and I discussed. When I received the plan I was very confused as it was not the amount we discussed and it had me keeping some property which we had discussed I was surrendering. I once again called and emailed with no response from Mr. Pleva. Therefore I had to stop by his office again to get any form of answers as to why my plan was different. They were not solid answers more a it is what it is here’s the plan. Then I get letters from the trustee that it’s dismissed…..

Overall I’d like a refund of my $1,200 and knowledge as to why my chapter 13 has gotten dismissed twice.

Don’t go with this attorney, pick any other one.

If you want questions, don’t ask them, find someone else. They hardly ever answer my text or emails. When they finally do answer, they don’t know the answer to my questions. I thank God every day that I could get help after my spouse died for debt that I couldn’t manage after the lose of his income. I will NEVER go through the office again. They can’t even tell me a payoff quote, and bankruptcy trustee can’t tell me either. Their suggestion was to call Joseph Plevia, my attorney. They don’t know, trustee clerk had to be reminded that I had sold a house and paid some creditors off, so make sure no matter how distressed you are, know how much and keep up with everything. I’m having my wages taken every pay day but nobody can tell me the payoff unless they do an audit and they can only do that once a year. Trustee office suggested I have the funds available first, well I need to know my balance so that I can. My fear is they’ll continue wage garnishment with the original plan or that I won’t physically/medically be able to work. Please seek someone that truly care and your just not another additional income for them. This was put in place to help people not mentally and emotionally depress them further. Please please do yourself a favor, check your resources and DONT CHOOSE HERE

My only complaint is the lack of attentiveness to certain issues. I originally filed bankruptcy in December of 2022, and there was an issue with my original filing. Mr. Pleva was able to refile my case in January of 2023, successfully my bankruptcy case was discharged in May of 2023. However, there was an issue with one of the creditors that did not receive a notice that bankruptcy had been reopened and discharged, as a result my credit report was reflecting an error. After a couple of months I discovered that the issue had not been corrected. I stopped into the office in August of 2023, and explained the issue I was provided information that an adversary would be filed. I waited some time to receive an update, but no information was provided. Upon a background check for my new employer I discovered that the information was STILL on my credit report I reached back out to Mr. Pleva, only to be told that another adversary would be filed. I eventually had to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in December of 2023, and was later provided information that a notice was never sent to the creditor in reference to the second bankruptcy filing. So with that being said, I was just being provided information but no resolution if I would have never filed the complaint I would have still been getting the runaround. Although, the results are fast and the staff are nice if you have other options I would definitely explore those to prevent possible headaches in the future.
