“Updated: after posting this review, we received our invoice, which included an additional $739 over the total we’d originally been given for the job. The reason for the $739 was because the handymen had to redo the paneling around our windows due to many miscuts and large gaps. We all agreed the cuts were sloppy, and I mentioned I was happy to “pay a little extra” for it to be done correctly. The next day, the handymen apologized and revised their work. I provided additional paneling for them (we had provided the original paneling and paint, and they provided nails, caulk, and trim). On the last day of the project, while the guys began painting the paneling, I gave each of them a cash tip for their good business ethics. Much to my surprise, after one coat of paint and having just tipped them for their integrity, they put on the outlet/light plates and left. I sent pictures to the owner (we could see the wall under the thin coat, where they’d cut-in, sections of the wall they’d missed, etc.) and he agreed, AGAIN, their work was unacceptable. We asked them to please finish the job, as there was over half of a gallon of paint left and the paneling would definitely need a second coat. They came back the following day, sanded the goopy caulked areas, and painted a second coat. We appreciated both instances of the handymen correcting careless work. However, we assumed this was integrity, hence my original review. We did not expect to be charged $739 for asking that the handymen do what they committed to doing in the first place. Everyone makes mistakes, but we don’t feel the customer should have to pay for the business’s mistakes. Original review: We hired Scout to install paneling over old damaged/peeling wallpaper and drywall in our kitchen. They did a great job, and we love the results. The paneling around our windows was tricky and tedious, but they got the job done and didn’t mind the inconvenience. We highly recommend Scout, especially for their kindness and integrity.“
