“Fashion Tailors on Stony Plain Road and 149 Street is exactly the kind of old-school spot I’m glad still exists. I love places like this—handwritten invoices, owner-operated, no frills, just good quality work. I don’t care what happens behind the scenes and I don’t care what the exterior looks like if the tailoring is solid, and this place delivers.

I had another quality tailor shut down, so finding this one was a real win. I’ve come by with some very unique requests and they’ve handled them beautifully—everything from elbow patches on a blazer to stitching on jeans that matches the existing thread. That kind of detail matters, and it’s not something every shop gets right.

Prices are reasonable, and the owner brings that old-world charm and old-world service—very humble, very friendly. It’s the kind of interaction you just don’t get everywhere anymore. Turnaround has been very good, and it’s quickly become a dependable stop for me.

When I returned to pick them up, I tried to give her a tip and even offered her an extra $10, but she kindly refused to accept it. “I had a very unique requirement for some embroidery I needed to have done. My daughter-in-law inherited an antique doll from her mother with an embroidered provenance of all previous owners and wanted her mother’s name and her name to be added. After realizing this was something I was not going to be able to do myself, I started seeking out local businesses that specialize in embroidery. Thank God I found Embroidery Works. Blanca was a godsend!!! She contacted Vadym Obertas, a local legend who specializes in antique embroidery. She also went above and beyond the call of duty when my phone number was misplaced, but she still managed to find me by calling all the numbers in her phone until she found me to tell me the work was completed. “Lady who helped me was great, some cultural differences in communication (quieter). They were able to get my makeup stain off one shirt and tomato sauce off another, and *almost* all of a hot chocolate stains on a table cloth (what they didnt get is not as noticeable as it used to be). Very reasonably priced: 2 shirts ($11each) and 1 table cloth ($25). They even pressed and hung each of the pieces on hangers for pickup with plastic to protect them. Quick turnaround, only a week.“
