If I could give it 10 stars it still wouldn't be enough.

Berkeley Springs was a great place to visit. I wouldn’t stay anywhere other than Mendenhall.

Mayor Greg and Claire have done a wonderful job making the Mendenhall 1884 Inn a great place to stay for visiting this beautiful area. They both are kind and interesting people, and just enjoying the best coffee, breakfasts and water while talking with them makes this a very enjoyable trip. Berkeley Springs is in close proximity to Harper's Ferry and the Antietam battlefield, in case I needed a reason to return for the pleasure that they brought to my visit! And oh the water in Berkeley Springs is the best that I have ever experienced.

Claire and Greg were amazing hosts. Friendly, personable, and great story tellers. Our room was very clean and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable! We had our own personal garden in the back to sip coffee and relax. It was a wonderful Mother’s Day over night with my mom. We would love to come back sometime.

My wife and I wanted to get away for an anniversary weekend. We decided to go to Berkeley Springs, we found a quaint old bed and breakfast in the heart of the town. This place made for an absolutely amazing experience for my wife and I.
The Location was perfect
The house was nicely decorated while still keeping the old historic feel.
The owners were the best part, they are truly gracious with ensuring your accommodations, your breakfast and everything in between was a great experience every single moment. Berkley Springs is an underestimated gem and this place made even more special. I highly recommend staying here.

This is a MUST STAY. You will never find a better host or a better house to stay in here in Berkeley Springs or anywhere as this was the best home I've ever stayed in...ever. The house is beautiful and beautifully maintained and there's so many amenities for the guests including snacks, drinks, coffee, and wine to enjoy in your room, in the main lobby area, or on the gorgeous porch where you can breathe in the fresh mountain air. And the hosts, they were just like staying with family as they treated us as such. They took our luggage to our rooms and oriented us to the house and the keys, everything we would need for our stay including a writing desk if you wanted to write a letter and have them mail it. They also gave us lots of suggestions on where and what to do in town based on our interests. AND they offer a tour of the town with the mayor since he is one of the hosts at the house and lives there! I would highly recommend taking the tour if you have the chance, especially as you get to learn more about the town and the people who live there as everyone stops to say hi to the Mayor. Sincerely, you will not find a better place to stay and you will not be treated better anywhere else as they treat you as their own family and children which we definitely felt and it made it hard to leave. You have to stay here. I didn't take a ton of pictures inside the house except for the lovely meals that the owners made each morning!!!!! The rest are some of my favorite pictures from our stay including soaking our feet in the springs, our tour with the Mayor, a trip to the Morgan County Observatory, and just me sitting in a local cafe's covered porch enjoying a drink, my book, and the rain. My friends and I cannot wait to come again and we are marking our calendars to come every year.

We stayed at Mendenhall 1884 a couple years ago when we were looking for a place to stay that was close to a craft show I was participating in at the Morgan Art's Council Ice House. The house itself is just charming, but not as charming as the proprietor's Claire and Greg! Greg was chilling on the porch waiting for us and made sure we were taken care of right from the start with some fresh spring water and a friendly chat. He gave us a tour of the house, and oh my, how enchanting it is! Claire is a fantastic interior designer, everything thoughtfully arranged. Lovely little decor accents and goodies surprise you throughout the house, including spring water and pour-over coffee in the room. Claire also has an incredible talent for cooking - let me tell you, you will never have a breakfast so creatively delicious. Even better, Claire sources the ingredients locally, and although you're eating a very healthy meal, you would never know! You leave the table with a full tummy and full heart from all the great conversation with other guests and of course Claire and Greg! One evening several of us gathered to hear Greg and Claire tell of the amazing history of the house itself, and tales of some guest experiences with the resident ghosts. We have been back twice since and will always return to this charming B&B whenever we can. By the way, highly recommend getting the charcuterie, another scrumptious creation by Claire!

I had the most wonderful and relaxing stay at Mendenhall 1884! The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was so clean and inviting. The owner, Claire is so friendly and helpful. Communication was fantastic and she accommodated every picky eater in our group. Her cooking is outstanding and we all enjoyed the breakfast she made.

What a great experience from start to finish. Claire and Greg's attention to detail and focus on ensuring you have a great stay really comes through. The room was beautifully decorated (we stayed in Ginger's Garden). Claire's breakfast was incredible and a great way to start the day. The location is perfect and gives you easy access to everything in town. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back to Berkeley Springs! :)

Mendenhall is a lovely home that is wonderfully restored and perfectly located in the town. Claire and Greg are just the best innkeepers and have thought of everything. It's so clear that they care about you enjoying your stay. I'm not a breakfast person, but Claire has converted me; her flair for cooking (no boring pancakes here!), presentation, and the taste are all phenomenal. Greg is a wonderful host and raconteur who makes you feel part of the community. We'll be back!
