I was at the Holmen location on 9/4 (yesterday) and received a one-hour deep tissue & trigger point treatment from Karl and had not been able to turn my head without turning my body for nearly three months at that point. I also drove three hours from Saint Peter, MN to have this appointment, and it is ABSOLUTELY worth every single cent in the gas, time, and appointment costs. Karl started the appointment with a calm soothing voice and asked me what my main issues were, if I was having pain anywhere, and what I had hoped to accomplish with the appointment. After a short discussion on what would be realistically feasible for the time slot I had, we started the massage. I felt as though he took the time to truly listen to me, my concerns, and also express what was realistic in a compassionate and person first nature that left me not feeling as though I was talked down to or dismissed. During the appointment he sometimes would ask me if I was feeling any pressures or releases in certain areas of my body, asked if it was radiating anywhere, and was very receptive to what my body could and could not handle before I even needed to ask for adjustments in his techniques. Muscles is this man's middle name. He was able to not only release my neck, but a good portion of my shoulders as well. Today I am able to move my head without moving my body, I have been able to crack a couple areas just from normal movements, and the pain is literally gone. I did not wake up crying, and it started my day with a HUGE smile. I have some lingering soreness, especially in one area of my neck/shoulder that gave Karl some issues, but it is absolutely nothing compared to what it was and is rapidly dissipating throughout the day. Water and ice helps! The front staff themselves, Stefanie (who also happens to be the owner and AMAZING) & Maya (who had her first day yesterday and NAILED IT!!!!) were absolutely bubbly and great too. As an AuDHD (Autistic/ADHD) trans masc queer person, I could not have felt more welcomed and safer there. Karl is of the upmost professionalism and even asked in a very professional manner if there were areas to avoid for gender dysphoria reasons. A handful of times throughout the year I have to go to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and because that puts me within a hour of the Holmen location, I definitely plan on making more appointments on days I am down that way.
