I started learning at Soyokaze Dojo a few months ago, and my journey has been great so far. As someone who was born and raised in Japan, I had never experienced anything this respectful and authentic here in the States. It didn’t take me a second to feel comfortable enough to embrace learning with an open heart, thanks to Brandt Sensei, Senpai, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. I can’t recommend Soyokaze Dojo enough. It’s a place where you can strengthen both your mind and body in a truly respectful and supportive environment.
Have been training for almost 6 months, everyone has been super welcoming and I can't wait to train more. I've never once felt that I was doing something that wasn't meaningful or intentional. I highly recommend for those who are interested in traditional martial arts and discovering the Ninja within themselves.
Excellent and effective self-defense training: movement, strikes, throws, perception, body positioning, mental...a LOT to learn so expect to put in the time and practice. Class size is small, you will receive personal instruction and you will also learn (more than you might think!) from your peers. Sensei has spent his life training and it shows. He is firm but fair and brings traditional Japanese martial arts, attitudes, and right to you in Soyokaze Dojo. He will bring out the best in you. Dojo itself is clean and organized and supports 1-on-1 techniques, movements like rolls, and weapons training. Some students drive for hours to attend.
