I've been receiving massage therapy regularly for the last 12 1/2 years, and on and off for the 8 years prior to that. Up until 5 months ago, I received massages through my insurance (Group Health Cooperative), but I had to switch from GHC to Quartz at the start of this year. I discovered Michael when he was recommended to me by one of the GHC receptionist/schedulers when I was seeking out a new therapist. After my very first massage with him, I knew I had found the perfect massage therapist for me. I was nervous leaving GHC and needing to find a number of new providers, but was thankful to find that Michael has his own practice outside of his GHC employment. Instead of just going to the problem areas you mention, as most therapists have done for me in the past, Michael "follows the tension" and makes me feel a hell of a lot better after each one. I highly recommend Michael if you're interested in starting massage therapy, or looking for a new massage therapist. You won't be disappointed!
Michael is an amazing massage therapist. I see him monthly for a massage, and it's the highlight of every month! I call him "Zeus" because of his super-human strength in his fingers, hands, arms and shoulders! I love his deep-tissue massages, but he gives a marvelous gentler massage also. I think the thing I appreciate most about Michael is his connection with all that is good, wholistic and restorative in the universe. One time he told me, "During this massage, release from your mind, body and spirit everything you don't need right now. And receive into your mind, body and spirit everything you do need right now." I loved that, and will never forget that mind, body, spirit experience! Michael always begins our sessions asking "Anything you'd like to tell me?" and ends every session asking the same question. I feel genuinely affirmed, healed and restored after every one of Michael's massages! His gifts go way beyond giving a good massage!By the way, I don't know why this review says I'm from San Francisco. I'm from Madison, WI.
