“I was surprised by the reviews listed on this page; however, I noticed a lot of different employee names mentioned, so I thought I would share our experience at Valley Funeral Home with Larry.
Our family highly recommends working with Larry. I cannot emphasize the level of compassion he showed for my dad, who passed away. Larry was calming, made the whole process of planning a funeral offsite seamless and easy, and treated our family with so much empathy. He wanted to learn about my dad, referred to him by name, and genuinely treated our loved one so well.
I tried calling other funeral homes in the area but was met with AI bots, unanswered questions, or being told I couldn’t talk to a funeral director unless they obtained the deceased first. From the moment I got in touch with Larry, I was blown away. My dad passed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and I was very concerned with other funeral home’s responses of passing my dad between random funeral homes in Milwaukee and then Appleton. Larry went to Milwaukee on the same day as my phone call, on a Saturday evening, to get my dad and bring him safely back to Appleton. This act of kindness brought me so much relief and moved me to tears.
Larry helped us to organize a visitation and service at a local church, and helped to ensure seamless transition and billing of our luncheon hosted at a restaurant. Additionally, he made the burial at the cemetery special to our family with red roses (which my dad got for my mom every year) and allowed us to say a prayer or memory before the burial.
There were a few things we didn’t “love” about other places we were having parts of the service (not at valley funeral homes), but Larry helped us see the bigger picture and helped us ensure these small things didn’t become the entire focus of the day. He brought calm to a very stressful and grieving time. Additionally, Larry ensured we knew we had options if we wanted to change anything to make sure my mom and family was happy.
Our family cannot say enough good things about Larry, and we truly mean this from the bottom of our hearts. I’m leaving out some personal details, but he truly went above and beyond. We would recommend him to every family member and friend. This experience would not have been the same without him walking through this journey with us. We were very fortunate to work with him, during a very unfortunate time in our lives.
