I stopped by during tax season to drop off my documents. The owner was standing in the main office and walked into his cubicle without saying hello. The receptionist later informed me that he would no longer be handling my return. I understand that accountants sometimes need to limit their client load, especially this time of year. That said, a brief direct conversation would have felt more professional and would have avoided an awkward situation. At the end of the day, though, he’s just another guy running a small business, and today he handled something awkwardly. Maybe a proper offboarding letter would be a good idea? I wish him well.
