“I was trying to grow my hair out from a short cut and was looking for a stylist that could put some shape to my hair while I was waiting for it to reach the desired length. Jeanne knew exactly what to do. It was my first time at her salon. She trimmed my hair so it looked good, while cutting it in such a way that it would grow into the style I was shooting for. I also walked in on a Saturday and she was kind enough to work me in at the end of her day! I would highly recommend her!“

“Got a cut from melody and I had one hour to do a high fade on my lunch break. And she lined me up and faded my cut just how I wanted. She was very passionate and talented. I will be coming back and they are very flexible here. She even helped me with a great shampoo and conditioner for my scalp.“

“Phenix Salon is a nice building. Inside entrance is nice & welcoming. Love the water feature on the wall when you first walk in. The place offers people to open their own salons within the building which is great. So they have many different businesses inside that all are salons, barbers, massage, eyebrow & maybe facials 2. I have been getting my hair done @ My Studio inside Phenix for several years & have been following Dale for 30+ years. Unfortunately he is leaving the Phenix building this month & moving My Studio to Monona Dr. but I highly recommend checking out some of the other businesses inside Phenix Salon Suites. I have not personally tryed any of them but they seem to be good businesses. Otherwise look up My Studio on Monona Dr. for a great hair salon.“

“Ashley was so fun to work with. She cut my curly damaged hair perfectly and was so welcoming. During my bridal hair and make up trials she was so fun and excited for me. My wedding party added a hair style last minute and Ashley was more than accommodating. She was fast to respond to messages and super flexible with us not knowing where we are getting ready until the week before the wedding. Everyone looked so good and she was so fun to work with in the get ready room. Everyone loved her, and when one of my bridesmaids kept making me laugh during makeup she just knew when to pause so my makeup turned out perfect. “I’ve been going to Amber at J Modern Design for probably ten years now! Not only does she have a friendly, upbeat personality she’s VERY talented, loves her job and always has you leave feeling beautiful. I like that she’s honest, if she thinks something won’t work she’ll say. Her salon is very clean and beautiful with lots of natural lighting. It’s also located in a very convenient location, in the Sapphire Studios building (formerly the old Dean Clinic.) In all the places I’ve lived, I’ve never found a better stylist (btw she always does my eyebrows too). Once you find a good one you hold on to them! I feel very fortunate to be a client of Amber’s at J Modern Design, not only is she an amazing hair stylist, she’s a great friend with a heart of gold.“

“The two negative leaning reviews apparently have a gripe with someone specific. Actually, when I began with these words I was still under the impression that the name of this place was something nearby. So I deleted everything and waited till now to revisit. My wife and daughter both are very happy about their relationship with their beautician (Jenna) at this place. As the driver for my daughter, I am writing merely to state this facility is far nicer than any place my wife, my daughter, and myself as well, can say I have been to in all of the greater Madison area in 22 years. My wife's hair is very much the reason I fell in love with her 28years ago. Jenna is currently her go to gal for her amazingly beautiful head of curls. Coley, my daughter (nickname) has her mothers curls, but my texture I guess. As a baby she had my blonde. I miss that time. If my hair was still what it was just five years ago I wouldn't hesitate to be here for the hair care I once demanded. These days I'm just happy I still have hair and it's not quite as grey as I see myself when looking in the mirror. We can't choose our neighbors or our follicles.“
