I went, in to Vitalant today (2/16/24) to donate platelets. In the past, my contact, Kay told me what there biggest need from blood type A+ donors has been, whether blood, plasma, or platelets, and that's how I chose platelets. The first thing I've noticed is the facility is spotlessly clean. That's comforting since they tend to poke people. The second thing I've noticed is that everyone is quite friendly and positive. That, too, is comforting. Going through the check-in process is quick and easy. Getting hooked up to the machine is also quick, but I could tell Laura was doing her best to ensure my comfort. During the donation process, each employee came by and asked if I wanted a snack, a drink, or if I was comfortable. Even Annie, who was training two new employees, brought cookies and cranberry juice to me. I am so impressed by the professionalism of all the employees at Vitalant.

Arrived at my appointed time, screening was performed not long after I arrived, Actual donation process start soon thereafter with a successful collection. Sat in snack room for 15 min. then left in under an hour from arrival.

I don't like their online scheduling. It is very restrictive and confusing. Appointments seem difficult to get, yet I offer receive emails about their desperate need for blood donations. Their phone number doesn't work.
