I have been training martial arts for 10+ years and have visited many gyms in the US. Ivan Salaverrys mma is hands down one of the best I’ve ever visited, great technique and instruction along with welcoming and understanding energy. It keeps the hard nose intensity of a fight gym with the new age training techniques that make it possible for anyone to join and jump right in to classes. Ivan is one of the warmest welcomes I’ve ever had into a gym and I have seen no special treatment in this regard he is truly great to everyone.
I trained at Ivan's for 5 years while living in Seattle. This is easily the best gym to train at in the area! The coaches and training partners are fantastic and will help you reach your goals whether you're there for fitness, competing, or as a fun hobby. Thanks for all the fun memories!
I believe this might be the best MMA gym on the entire west coast. Make that the best martial arts gym as well, given how rare it is to find realistic sparring allowing simultaneous striking and grappling in any gym of any style. Cons: Many people in the MMA class spar harder than I would like. There's a risk of brain damage unless you have the right partner. Sometimes when telling people to go lighter on the head they would turn it down by 0.1 notches and go full blast on the body and legs.
