Citydog! Club

My review is based purely on grooming (Brooke specifically!) because my dog doesn't enjoy daycare or boarding so I don't have much experience to go off of there. I've had dogs my whole life but I now have a dog that has long, easily matted fur for the first time ever. The very first time I brought her to Citydog, Brooke told me many good practices to keep her mat free between grooms. I've been back to her countless times and she always does a great job. It's the reality of all long haired dogs that they need to be combed and brushed daily at home. Although I don't do a great job of keeping up with this maintenance between grooms, I'm so grateful I can trust Brooke to help reset my dog's fur whenever I come in. She always does exactly what I ask for and tells me which areas I need to pay more attention to when I'm brushing her at home based on where the most of her mats were. I used to live in Ballard but moved away about 2 years ago and haven't been able to find a groomer who does as good of a job as Brooke.

We have been getting our Sapsali groomed at Citydog for just over 3 years now! Brooke has done an amazing!!! Job every single time. We don't do the best taking care of our dog's matted hair/fur and Brooke has always been educational when talking through strategies for us to be better to our girl! Highly recommend Brooke! We have tried several other groomers since moving out of ballard but have decided to go back to Brooke because of her diligent work!

City Dog Club Ballard location is my dog Bentleys favorite place to play. the employees are so excited to welcome us and Bentley runs to their front door. The play spaces are always so clean and I love being able to watch Bentley on the cameras. I have been bringing Bentley here since he was 3 months old and soon he will be 2. I love everyone here at City Dog and so does Bentley. Bring your pup to play or stay the night! Muriel

The receptionist was very kind and welcoming. There is handy free parking. Service was fast and on time. However, a couple parts of her body were only partially clipped with tufts of longer hair showing, and then our very elderly dog had fleas. She is an inside dog now that only goes in our small yard to do her business. She does not visit dog parks or ever go for walks, so we are guessing they came from there. Perhaps another client had left some? We've never before found fleas on her. We won't go back.

I am writing a review based on the experience I received on Oct 22, 2023 (or, at least that's the last CityDog charge on my card). Yes this is nearly a year later, but a point I want to make about the impact that the service and comments made during my visit can make in the long term.. For the years since I've lived in Ballard and have had a dog (he's 5yo), I kept taking him to CityDog Club Ballard, SOLELY for the convenience of the location (and the fact that they are a daycare, I trust my dog can be taken care of if I can't pick him up as soon as they are done). In spite of the one-too-many mess ups (and the good cuts in between), I continued to give this place my business. In my particular appt date, I came in, explained to the groomer that my dog (a goldendoodle) rolled around in woodchips from the mounds at Marymoor park and a lot got stuck-- I brushed and bathed and brushed again to get every bit of them out and accepted that his gnarly undercoat was going to mean he's too be to be shaved. Not a big deal. The bad experience comes from the verbal abuse I received by the groomer when she further inspected him. She immediately began to berate me about dog ownership and claimed that his hair was beyond salvaging, to which I assured her I was okay with a total shave, as much as I was hopeful for some hair to be kept. I kept it very civil and understanding that my dog literally rolled himself into this situation. When I picked him up, I continued to get the same treatment when the groomer walked to me with my dog, even saying that my dog's matting was "inhumane." The audacity of this person to insinuate that I abuse my dog and berate my ownership was so demeaning that I think about that experience constantly. ESPECIALLY when I go out of my way now to another grooming place that treats me with respect. This place has had a terrible time retaining their groomers over the years and now I guess they hire bullies. Have not been back since and they will never see my business again.

My puppy Cassia loves CityDog of Ballard. I recently had to bring her in for her first time away from me- 4 days of boarding. I was worried about her on her 1st day away until they sent a pic of her having a great time on her walk. Still, I was afraid she would be afraid to go back, but the next time I brought her in she ran to the door, and was wiggling with excitement to see the people at the counter. She is shy around most people, but she loves CityDog people like family!

We were checked in quickly, our dog was greeted by the groomer in such a good way, taking into account his anxiety. His nails were trimmed perfectly and he was nice and clean, all in under an hour. Great staff brought him out to us, too.

I have a smaller dog who can be shy and nervous around new dogs and people at first but he had a great time at the meet and greet appointment and during an overnight boarding stay. The staff, scheduling, availability, online portal, report cards, and deal packages are great.

Just love the staff at City Dog Ballard. Even after being away for several months, they greet my dogs like old friends.

The staff at City Dog are professional, friendly, and helpful. My dog Winston came home happy from his day at City Dog. I highly recommend City Dog in Ballard.
