Recently, I went to the Blue Mercury U village location and was made to feel uncomfortable by the staff. I heard someone call her Sasha- who kept glaring at me while I was being helped by another staff member. As a person of color, the options available for my skin tone are already limited here. I can accept that to an extent since I mostly shop for candles, skincare and body care when I visit. But to be GLARED at by a white woman no matter where or what I’m doing is not acceptable. I needed to buy some skinceuticals moisturizer since I'm restarting tretinoin. I was checking out and mentioned that I was getting something heavy because I'm restarting the medication. The salesperson asked me why, told me that that was too strong, and asked me if I was doing this with a dermatologist. She gave me a sample of a different product (that, of course, she sells). I thought the whole conversation was really awkward and weird, especially since this is a medication prescribed by my physician and that I've taken before
I live in Olympia and we don’t have a Bluemercury here. I usually use their website to place orders. Also, It was my first time visiting a store and made an consulting appointment. The lady who helped me was very friendly and professional. I really enjoyed my mini skincare service. I purchased one of the items she recommended and she got me a free sample which is nice. My trip to Seattle was worth it. Thanks :)
