I've been seeing Sam Assmussen for years and to find out she's not taking appts shortly after seeing me was very shocking. She would take months to reply, even if I messaged her a couple times. After messaging her last September, I waited for a reply, no answer so I messaged again in November and still nothing. Finally, in December I messaged her and she responded saying she's not taking appts anymore. I was very disappointed that she would do that to a loyal client especially since no one else has ever touched my hair besides her. She wouldn't even give a recommendation for another stylist so I've been stuck without anyone to go to. Fast forward to now, I have her on instagram and Venmo and I see that she's still taking clients. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed in Sam especially since she was nice to me and always expressed that she valued me as a customer. I still don't have a stylist to go to and my hair hasn't been touched since last June when she did my hair.

Customer service was terrible! It seemed like she didn't want to work that day. She didn't talk me through the process or let me know that we wouldn't be able to achieve my reference photo. We didn't even come close to the photo i showed her and for me to pay so much money for it! I was so unhappy with my hair. Thanks for ruining my first salon experience.

Do not go to Sam for your hair, especially if you have thick asian hair, because it's pretty obvious that she does not know how to work with it. First session, I came in for a high balayage and my hair took the color to an ashy blonde, but the top part of my hair was completely abrupt and unblended, there were like gaps of blonde hair and my black hair that made it look like patchy tiger stripes, which looked terrible. (will attach pictures). I texted her pictures after my first appointment because I was upset and she told me to come in and she would tone down the pieces. She told me to come in at 7 am, and so I did, but she came in an hour and fifteen minutes later because she overslept. Then, she "tones" down the hair with just putting dark dye in my hair to fix her mistakes, which dismisses the fact that I wanted a high balayage, and turns it into a messy low balayage. I told her after she toned down my hair that I wasn't happy with the result and let her know that my hair looks uneven, orange at the top, then ashy blonde in the middle, and then orange again at the bottom. She then discontinues me as a client because she probably can't handle her mistake, and tells me that orange is my fault because of my hair. She specifically told me at my first appointment that whatever she does, she will not make my hair orange or brassy, it will all be toned. She states that it was because my ends of my hair were already brassy so it's not her problem, but that doesn't explain why my top part of my natural black hair turned brassy? She also says since my hair is thick and black that lightening it to blonde will lead to some unsteadiness, which is her trying to excuse her terrible job of painting and doing balayage. Her attitude through the first appointment to now is unprofessional and childish. There are plenty of people who could do a better job than her, do not go to Sam for your hair, I promise, you'll regret it.
