Quick response time and efficient getting our Tesla battery backup installed. Syed and his subcontractor communicated thoroughly and we were very satisfied with the completed project.
We found Solora through EnergySage and thought they did a nice job with our 10.6KW solar panel and 10KW battery installation. The panels are dark and look good on the pyramid-style roof of our 100 year-old house. The installers were super nice and were quick and efficient. They handled all the details of getting the system approved with the city and making corrections. From order to install completion was just under 3 months due to various delays. About 5 of the 26 panels were damaged so some had to be reshipped, and not enough panels were delivered. I could tell some were damaged and sent pictures immediately after delivery, but the reorder didn't happen until the installers got here and verified the obvious - a 3 week delay that could have been avoided. The SolarEdge hardware and NMC battery are good but there are some things I wish were better. The SolarEdge specs say that power switchover from grid to battery happens in milliseconds, but in actual practice, it takes several seconds, so you still need UPS battery backup for any computing equipment that you want to stay on during an outage. Also, the SolarEdge battery does not give the homeowner any control over how the battery is used (unlike a Tesla powerwall). There is no way to control the amount of discharge or how the battery is charged (for example, charge the battery only from excess solar - but not a deal breaker since we have net 0 monitoring with our utility - for now). So, the solar edge app works well and provides the necessary information but does not offer the level of control I wanted. Use the EnergySage resources to become well informed, and pay more attention to panel warranty than panel efficiency. I would definitely use Solora again but would go with the Tesla battery and hardware. We paid cash for our system so the payback will be around 12 years given the 30% tax rebate - nice, so long as Net 0 remains in place with our utility.
