This farm, this program and this community has meant so much to our family. This unique program not only taught our daughter to ride, it also taught her about dedication, gratitude, accountability, the importance of and how to work together , and a “can-do” attitude. We watched our daughter grow into a confident rider and member of the riding team, onto team leader; where she served as a mentor, advisor and organizer. Deerfield is an exceptional place - great horses, excellent instruction, and a wonderful community! The youth team is an amazing program that is focused not just on developing extraordinary riders, but also on developing extraordinary young women of character. I wish there had been a program like this that I could have been a part of as a child. As an adult, I started taking lessons once a week two years ago, then started leasing one of Deerfield's wonderful horses and experienced my first horse shows, and finally, last October, Katie helped to find me my very own horse. Katie from the very beginning has made me feel valued and heard as a student. Her skills and knowledge as a horseman can be so obviously seen in the quality, health and happiness of all the Deerfield horses, which in turn makes them the ultimate teachers. Since starting there my skills and understanding of riding have gone way past where I thought possible. I highly recommend Deerfield for those looking to learn what truly effective riding is, on horses who are experts and teachers, from trainers who prioritize your goals and the horses health.
