Jim is definitely an acquired taste, but in a positive way! There's no shortage of ego with him, however he absolutely backs it up. We initially went with BASK Construction because Jim owned the lot we wanted, so it wasn't really a choice at first. But over the three years it took to build our custom home, it became clear that he really knew what he was doing. His attention to detail is impressive. For example, he didn't screw down the floorboards until after painting and running dehumidifiers for three weeks. That extra month meant zero squeaks in our floors! As a Financial Executive, I am naturally financially oriented. After hearing many horror stories about custom home builds being substantially over budget with quality issues, I was extremely nervous to pull the trigger. Jim and his team at BASK exceeded my expectations in every way. Every concern I had about the process disappeared working with Jim.

We knew Jim from our kids activities and had seen some of the luxury custom homes he'd built in the past, so when we discovered he was buying the lots in Paddock Woods, where we were looking, it worked out really well.

Our situation was a little unique because we had actually built the same house in California, but needed to make it suitable for the Pacific Northwest. Working with Jim and the architect, we were able to get the right custom home design with proper window placement for optimized lighting.
