She shows a lot of care and consideration for the look I’m going for, asking for reference photos and doing a little consultation, while gently challenging me to try new things she knows will look good on me. “Sunshine at Tam’s Barber Shop is a gem! She used to cut my husband’s hair (decades ago), and now cuts my two sons’ hair. She is excellent—especially at cutting mixed and curly hair. One time I was stopped by a stranger who happened to be a barber just to ask who cut my kids’ hair because he recognized the skilled cut. You will not be disappointed.“

“So let me start by saying that my first visit to Michelle at shears to you was on a day when my regular Stylist had unfortunately had to cancel but I was desperately needing a cut so I Shears to You here on Yelp and showed up without an appointment thinking I would at least schedule sometime and she was so kind and said that she had time to cut my hair. I absolutely love the cut she gave me and her service, professionalism, and the salon overall gets a five star rating from me. The inside feels open and welcoming, it's very clean and the music is at a low, pleasant volume. But it doesn't stop there... My mother has late stage Alzheimer's. (For reference, She doesn't know who I am anymore and in spite of seeing her every Friday, she has no memory of who I am or our time together and frequently has to ask how we are related and/or asked me how long we have been friends) ... Recently, my stepdad, who is her full-time caregiver, asked me if I could help him convince her to cut her hair. She used to keep it very short and stylish, but in the last few years it has grown out because getting her to a stylist is pretty challenging. Taking care of her is quite a commitment for him (and we are so grateful for him every day!) and also taking care of her long hair adds to the challenge. He tried to convince her but she wanted none of it. Haha. So... I called Michelle at Shears and explained the situation asked if she would be willing to cut my mom's hair, though it could prove to be a challenging task to convince her that it is the right choice and change is hard for her. I talked it up and we went to the salon to "get pampered" and have a haircut and my Mom was fully on board. Michelle was wonderful, professional, and we kept talking with my Mom through the whole cut. When my Mom started to ask why she was cutting it so short, Michelle paused so I could sit and re-explain the need for shorter hair to my Mom and she could consent again to the cut. We are just so thankful for her patience and kindness. This type of situation can be delicate and she was very respectful of our needs and so understanding. We'll be back, for sure!! My mom, myself, and my kids.“
