Dereck is a very good shiatsu therapist! He is kind, thoughtful and great about explaining treatment. I had a hard time walking into his studio with left hip and low back pain but he was able to help me walk upright out of there, pain free.I highly recommend Dereck for your Shiatsu needs. Of course, all outcomes vary person to person.

I was referred to Dereck by my nail gal and haven't looked back since! Dereck has been the only person to date that has been able to assisting me with my debilitating migraines. I have been suffering from migraines for more than half my life. I've tried medication, physical therapy, Botox, acupuncture, as well as massage off and on with inconsistent success... That is until I met Dereck. This man has the most magically hands, I don't know just how he does it, but he's able to locate the beginning of the tension and get the muscles to release without making me cry during our appointments. I've never had an experience with an LMT that wasn't painful or left me bruised....read full review

Dereck was my introduction to Shiatsu and I'm hooked. Shiatsu provides a deeper relief that deep tissue massage therapy doesn't deliver. I now use both to support my wellness practice and as a useful way to focus on recovery when I've been particularly tough on my body.I'm an outdoor enthusiast and Dereck's intuition as a shiatsu practitioner is the best I've experienced so far (I've tried one other therapist who claimed a shiatsu practice and he didn't come close to Dereck's treatment). Also, Dereck is just nice and accommodating as a therapist. I am a curious person so I'm talkative on the table which a lot of therapists don't like. Dereck is super patient. You will...read full review

From Shiatsu For Life

Shiatsu for Life is owned and operated by Dereck Olsen. He has been practicing Shiatsu in the Bellevue area since 2005. Shiatsu - is based on the philosophy of Chinese medicine. In the 10th century, Japanese monks began to study Buddhism in China. They observed the Chinese practitioners and learned about energy meridians (Qui) that run throughout the body. The Japanese monks took these teachings and began to enhance them to what we now call Shiatsu. The style of Shiatsu I lurned was passed down in my teachers family for over 400yrs. This style concentrates on balancing the circulation throughout the body. It incorporates techniques of Chinese Acupressure, Cranial-sacral, energy healing (Raiki) and Reflexology.
